Frequently Asked Questions

Why use large staff paper for beginners?

With six staves the lines are about twice as far apart, so it is easy to tell a note on a line from one in a space. Most children move to ten or twelve staves after a year or so.

What is staff paper?

Paper printed with sets of five lines (staves) for writing music notes. It's also called manuscript paper or blank sheet music.

Which line of guitar tab is the low E string?

The bottom line. Tab is drawn as if you were looking down at the guitar on your lap, so the thinnest string is on top.
